Behind the Scenes of William Hill’s ‘Take Control’ TVC

Working as the Post-Production Producer on William Hill’s national TV commercial, ‘Take Control,’ was a fantastic process. The purpose of the campaign was clear: to promote William Hill in the UK, highlighting the numerous ways users can bet across multiple sports, all while the action is still unfolding. The tagline, “Take it all in – then take control,” perfectly captured the excitement of in-play betting – giving viewers the power to bet on their mobiles as the game progresses.
BRINGING THE VISION TO LIFE
Producing this powerful, loud, and action first commercial required seamless collaboration between multiple creative teams. I had the pleasure of working with Manchester’s The Mill who filmed the piece – renowned for their award-winning ability to make any idea possible, they did not disappoint on this week long shoot.
Alongside them, as part of Bark&Bite, we brought our unique creative flair to the edit, as well as cutting-edge visual effects and expertise in post-production, helping shape the final piece into the punchy, high-energy advert William Hill envisioned.
From the initial brief to the final edit, the project was all about intensity and excitement. We wanted to capture the thrill of live sports betting through fast-paced visuals, dynamic transitions, and immersive sound design. Every detail was considered, from the explosive visuals depicting various sports to the perfectly timed cuts that mirrored the high-adrenaline feel of in-play betting.
THE POST-PRODUCTION PROCESS
As the Post-Production Producer, my role was to coordinate all aspects of the editing process, ensuring that each team’s contributions were harmonised into a cohesive final product. This meant balancing creative expectations with practical deadlines, troubleshooting technical challenges, and maintaining clear communication between all parties involved.
Clearing the advert for TV broadcast was another key responsibility. I managed the submission process, ensuring that the commercial met all necessary standards and requirements before pushing it out to TV channels for play-out. It was an intense but incredibly rewarding process, seeing the final edit come together and preparing it for national release.

Creating the ‘Take Control’ TVC was a testament to the power of collaboration. The combined expertise of The Mill and our team resulted in a campaign that truly captured the essence of what William Hill wanted to convey.
